    • Content Integrated Units (for fourth and fifth grades)(requires LAUSD SSO): The 4th and 5th grade Content Integrated Unit Performance Tasks are grounded in the principles of project based learning and incorporate the opportunity for teachers to evaluate the summative growth of a student in the strands of ELA-speaking and listening, reading, writing, language standards, content standards in History/Social Science, and Science. The instructional Units:
      • Are based on an inquiry model.
      • Students to actively collaborate
      • Culminate with a final group project and presentation
      • Incorporate the ELA, Science, and History/Social Science Standards
      • Take approximately 4 weeks of instruction

    • LAUSD NGSS Science Ambassador:
    • PBS Kids Kitchen Chemistry: Visit the Virtual Kitchen to access mess-free activities. The Reality Kitchen has how-to instructions for conducting a Cabbage Juice Indicator lab and a Polishing Pennies experiment using simple household materials.
    • Pest World for Kids: With games, lesson plans, a pest guide, glossary, videos, interactive quizzes, and more, the website offers everything you need to foster a love of entomology among elementary and middle level students.
    • Science_of_Everyday_Life: provided by 3M and Discovery Channel, students enter a world of cool science through brain boggling games and virtual investigations!
    • Science Netlinks: Developed by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Science NetLinks provides resources for K-12 teachers and students. The site includes lesson plans, interactives, hands-on activities and reviewed resources, all of which provide opportunities to bring science and technology discovery into the classroom. Science NetLinks resources are matched to Project 2061’s Benchmarks for Science Literacy.
    • STEM TEaching Tools: The STEM Teaching Tools site has tools that can help you teach science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). We are currently focused on supporting the teaching of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Each tool is focused on a specific issue and leverages the best knowledge from research and practice.
